Ser Antena: El deseo de saber por dónde va la fuga

Espacio Odeón

Bogota, Colombia

August 17 - 20, 2024

R..A.R.O. (Residencias Artísticas Raramente Organizadas) is an international artist residency program. Since its inception in 2014 in Buenos Aires R.A.R.O. has received more than 120 artists from Argentina and other countries. At the same time, it has built scholarship programs in collaboration with various institutions.

The key element of the residencies we propose is the possibility of working with different artists, curators, managers, and researchers in an itinerant manner for a determined period. This is crucial for generating spaces for dialogue and collaboration between participants and hosts. Alongside the work processes in each space, we create an agenda of activities such as visits to workshops, galleries, self-managed spaces, and other series of dialogue and exchange encounters within and outside Bogotá's artistic circuit.

Dislocated Steps through the Andean Concrete

This video and ceramic installation includes a series of glazed ceramic sculptures of speculative designs of the vertebrae, hanging and hovering above a 3D holographic screen placed on the floor, while a light goes through it. The 3D animation that appears in the holographic screen, depicts a performative sequence of a naked back moving, and slithering. This body becomes an accumulation of a mountain range struggling to stand up, until it finally does to realize it has been dislocated from its original path all along. This project explores the stand of a queer diasporic body within its own territory once it returns. This project was made during a summer residency R.A.R. O Bogota, in Colombia, my place of birth, where I had the opportunity to work, produce and exhibit a project in my hometown for the first time, a unique opportunity after having migrated to Canada at the age of 12.
