Translational Spaces (2015-2016)
260 page illustrated publication with short fictions and digital prints
This publication intends to present the dynamic relation between multiple spaces (physical and virtual), that are felt, that linger, and have been or could be lived within. Based on dreams, imagination and desires. This translation of spaces is influenced by the reader’s own past, mental spaces, physical location, psychological states and anthropological human connections on the inhabitation of architectural places and creation of virtual spaces. All these with the hopes of stimulating readers to arrive to the potential fictions of their own minds.
The short fiction narrate states of migrant and queer bodies in different physical and virtual architectures, along with processes of adapting, belonging, and translating identity and representation.
This publication is part of Tavera's MFA thesis project that included an art book, an interactive website (dssots.com) and an installation at AgenceTOPO in Montreal, Canada.
