2015 EDAA Finalists
Unfounded Geographies (2015)
Brianna Lowe is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Toronto. Her practice explores different interpretations of how the environment is experienced through the mediation of digital media, such as 3D animation, digital collage, and video. She has exhibited in Canada, the Netherlands, and the United States, as well as virtually through The Wrong Digital Art Biennale. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from OCAD University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Video Game Design from George Brown College.
Seaview (2014)
Zinnia Naqvi is an image-based artist working out of Toronto. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ryerson University’s Image Arts: Photography Studies program. Naqvi’s work is rooted in documentary practice and she continues to seek inspiration through cultural observation. Her work addresses issues of globalism, trans-nationalism, and identity.
Autocidal After-Image (2015)
Colin Rosati is a Toronto-based multimedia artist, creating videos and installations that explore digital space and extensions of the physical body. Rosati works with 3D modeling, Max MSP, single and multi-channel video, and interactive installations. He studied Integrated Media at OCAD University (2013-2015) and Ottawa School of Art.
DSSOTS (Digital Sketch Series of Transitional Spaces) (2015)
Santiago Tavera is an intermedia Canadian artist, born in Colombia. Tavera’s studio-based research focuses on the production of digital, architectural environments with a focus on blurring the lines between the digital and the physical. He is interested in examining viewers’ sensory stimulation and perceptual experiences mediated by digital technology. Tavera holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) with Specialization in Visual Arts and a Major in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario. He is currently completing his Master of Fine Arts at Concordia University in Montreal.
The Distribution of Hypotheses (2012)
Yi Xin Tong received his Master of Fine Arts from New York University (2014) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honors) from Simon Fraser University (2012). His work has been shown at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, Dumbo Arts Festival, Embassy of Canada in Berlin, 80 WSE Gallery, Photo Shanghai, Audain Gallery, Gallery 44, VIVO Media Arts Centre, and Centre for Art Tapes. He’s received the Joan Mitchell Foundation Scholarship, Takao Tanabe Award in Visual Arts, British Columbia Arts Council Scholarship, and Orange Corporation Annual Award in Visual Arts. Tong was the British Columbia winner of BMO 1st Art! Invitational Student Art Competition in 2012.
